Protest Chinese claim: SUMA
ITANAGAR, June 29: Objecting strongly to China’s repeated claim over Arunachal Pradesh, the Students’ Union Movement of Arunachal (SUMA) has called upon people of the state to wake up and protest the claim vehemently.
“Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and the people of the state are proud to be an Indian. But China’s repeated claim over Arunachal Pradesh is jeopardizing our future,” stated SUMA in a release.
“We can solve our internal problems and disputes through proper planning and dialogue. But the real threat to our country today is China’s growing interest in Arunachal Pradesh,” the students union said.
8 rescued from Siku river
ITANAGAR, June 29: Eight people from Ayeng village, who had gone to the Siku River
for fishing and got trapped in between the river course, were rescued by people of

Training on yarn extraction
ITANAGAR, June 29: Six youths from Arunachal Pradesh have undergone training on banana and pineapple fibre and yarn extraction at Alfa Delta Corporation, Chennai Tamil Nadu from June 24 to 26.
Dr. Amal Dutta of Alfa Delta Corporation said that Arunachal can be a large producer of fibre and yarn as banana and pineapple are available here. Fibres and yarns are used for making paper and handloom textiles.
The training was funded by the Directorate of Science and Technology, GoAP and organized by Education and Cultural Development Society (ECDS) Kimin.
Meanwhile, ECDS Chairman Nabam Akin Hina informed that training on banana and pineapple fibre and yarn extraction will be organized in various areas where banana and pineapple are available. The Society appealed to the state government to extend help to the trainees in establishing micro industry on fiber and yarn extraction.

Criticising Nabam Tuki government for allegedly failing to raise the issue strongly with the Centre in order to send a clear message to Beijing, Nasi said "whenever Chinese leaders visit India, Arunachal Pradesh never tries to raise voice before the Chinese delegates on the state's stand.
"The state government should makes its stand clear on the often repeated claims of China over the state's territory and the stapled visa issue and should exert constant pressure on the central leadership to resolve the issue once for all," Nasi said.

SLSC lift Dree football trophy

Mutchu gives top priority to education

ROING, June 29: Putting education as top priority for his constituency, the local legislator cum Parliamentary Secretary for Horticulture Mutchu Mithi today visited the boys and girls hostel of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Roing. The visit was part of his continuing tour to all the government run schools in his home constituency.
The girl's hostel has intake capacity of 50 students and the boys of 100. The parliamentary secretary began his inspection starting with boy's hostel. The hostel was found to be in dire condition with leaking roofs, broken windows and perforated walls. He was ushered in to a damp and congested room used as kitchen. The utensils and gas stove were all in bad shape that needed to be replaced.
Thereafter he inspected the hostel rooms where partitions were erected using plastic bags. The wooden floors of the rooms were all perforated with holes and decaying. The entire hostel building structure which is more than 30 years needs to be replaced with new RCC structure, suggested the hostel authority. Also the Parliamentary Secretary was apprised of the need for a boundary wall and gate for hostel compound to prevent it from miscreants and trespasser.
Comparatively, the girl's hostel was in much better shape. What it needed was a boundary wall with a strong steel gate, requested the girl's hostel authority. In the hostel backyard, the drain water from kitchen and bathrooms gets clogged, informed the authority and requested for drainage facilities. A need for a reading room cum library for hostels was also suggested to the visiting legislator. Having inspected the hostel, the Parliamentary Secretary advised the students to take care of the hostel property as it belonged to them.
"We will never be behind in giving help; but what is important is how good care is taken of the resources in the hostel," said Mutchu.
He assured to immediately release funds for procuring essential items (cooking requirements) for hostel, and promised to direct the works department for preparing estimate for all constructional works required. On funds for running hostel mess, he assured all help possible as when need arises.
Later, interacting with the students at school auditorium, the Parliamentary Secretary said, "In my life, I have seen hardworking and intelligent people. But in the end the hardworking one excels. So never be tired of doing hard work."
He said education is the only means through which one can find a space for himself in the society and without education it is difficult to find acceptability. "Nonetheless, be proud of who you are and never try to pretend about your personality. There's always a beauty in being oneself," said Mutchu.
Earlier, giving out his motivational speech to the students, Rakesh Tacho, 2008 APCS topper and Circle Officer (CO), Khonsa advised the students not to divert their time and energy in students' politics.
"If you feel that you are serving the society through students union, it's better to take care of yourself first and society will take care of itself later," said Tacho.
He said higher secondary is the most crucial stage in a students' life, and it's almost certain that one has chosen their path of their career. "But never regret on your choice of subject. Try to excel in your field and never give up. If you do not succeed today, but tomorrow you will for certain," said Tacho.
Accompanying the visiting team, Dr Rasto Mena, Medical Officer, Community Health Centre (CHC), Iduli and Khare Keche, Assistant Protocol Officer, Itanagar Civil Secretariat also gave motivation speech to the students.

DC inaugurates irrigation project at Leelangthong
CHANGLANG, June 29: Changlang Deputy Commissioner cum NSFM Chairperson Canchal Yadav inaugurated Leelangthon Lift irrigation Project at Leelangthong WRC field at Changlang yesterday.
The much needed project was implemented under National Food Security Mission through the department of Agriculture, Changlang.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner appealed to the farmers to avail optimum benefit from the project as the success of the project depends on the performance of the farmers.

The match began slowly and gained momentum in the 12th minute when a BTFC corner kick managed to find the CCSC goalkeeper but was punched out by Gyamar Sankio. Before that CCSC’s Giogi Tani had the chance to take his team ahead with a free kick in the 4th minute but only ended up sending the ball sky high. BTFC again had a chance in the 15th minute when Tage Tath put in an excellent through ball but Pura Byai couldn’t reach the ball in time to take advantage. On the other end, CCSC number 17 Techi Tatra puts too much force behind the ball after finding himself free from a square ball as the opportunity squanders away.
The Capital Complex boys had a scare in the 17th when BTFC are awarded a free kick for ball handling just outside the box. Team skipper Rocky Ramching cleverly chips the ball past the CCSC wall to find his brother Roshan Ramching whose effort hits the crossbar.

Govt. may relax RAP, PAP to boost tourism
BANGKOK, Jun 29: The Central Government may relax rules in the restrictive areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Leh and Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir to promote tourism in these picturesque regions without compromising security, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said.
The People Area Permit (PAP) and Restricted Area Permit (RAP) from certain pockets of Arunachal Pradesh, Leh and Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir will be relaxed to promote tourism, Rijiju said here.
He said tourists including foreigners, were keen to visit places like Buddhist shrines, and some of these were inside the restricted zone.
"If you restrict a region it will never open up. Link will always be restrictive. We are not lifting all restrictions. We want to open up for foreigners partially with less restriction easily accessible to all visitors, Rijiju said.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 6th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, where he was leading an Indian delegation.
The minister who has been given the charge of the Northeast region emphasised the need to open these areas to domestic and foreign tourists with less restriction and develop infrastructure in the bordering areas.
"We don't want to lift RAP and PAP. We want to relax to extent that it does not pose security risk," the minister said.
He said, if a region was restricted and made inaccessible to tourists it would never develop.
"We are not lifting all restrictions, but would like to open these areas to domestic and foreign tourists with less restriction and develop infrastructure in the bordering areas to make it easily accessible to all visitors," he said.
India's Look East can be substantiated only through North East India, Rijiju said.
The Northeast can be a hub of tourism, culture and trade, he said adding that it was also important strategically.

It is commendable that the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh is focussed on building project in tourism sector as it is one of the primary pillars in the state economy. Promoting tourism means a step towards generating employment, sustainable development and poverty reduction. But one of the striking underlying facts is the condition of the roads in capital itself.
What impression does it make on the domestic and international tourists when narrow, unsafe, poor quality roads and highways, potholes with untidy garbage dumps & unusual smell welcome them besides traffic congestion? The abandoned bus stop & its premise near Bank Tinali is sufficient to show evidence. It is hoped that govt and related departments might look into such basic parameters and boost the tourism industry in our state.

Build roads capable of withstanding calamities
Dear Editor,
Thank you for inserting a photograph that I took at Karsingsa of blocked road in your 28th June issue.
The road was in a horrible situation. The need of the hour is not only restoration of recently blocked points but the roads of our state capital. There has to be proper road planning with strong drainage system with proper retaining wall as well to avoid such horrible situation. Of course natural calamities are unavoidable but it can be controlled to a certain level if we construct roads with good planning keeping in mind the dimensions of natural calamities that are likely to hit. Countries like Japan which faces natural calamities frequently have been able to build earth quake proof building but we cannot even divert a small stream to save our main road.

Interestingly every year thousands of students from Eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh
come to Itanagar for admission in Dera Natung Govt. College Itanagar but they are
being denied through catchment area policy. And the students wonder in search of
best colleges in Arunachal Pradesh as they cannot afford to go out of state due to
various reasons. The reason why students hailing from Tirap, Changlang, Lohit and
Longding come to get admission in DNG College Itanagar is because colleges in these
districts offer courses only in some specific subjects. Not only this, the infrastructure
development and management is very-
What surprise me most is introduction of catchment area policy in regard to colleges of Capital Complex.
Most of the districts of our state have Govt. Colleges and so catchment area policy should be applicable to those colleges of respective districts. DNG College is one of the NAAC Accredited institution situated in the heart of capital complex. So intake capacity of students should not be limited only to the catchment area instead it should offer 100% admission and on merit basis & cut off marks should be introduced in respect to whole of Arunachal Pradesh.
If catchment area policy is applicable for the lone college of capital complex then another catchment area Capital Complex should be created in the Eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh where students from those areas could get admission without any difficulties.

In this regard, we express regret about severe inconvenience caused to the people of East Kameng District due to power failure. However it is clarified that power disruption in East Kameng District is owing to sudden breakdown of 132 KV Tower Line from Balipara to Khupi at Tower No. 159 located in between Zero point and Saddal caused by heavy land slide on 24/06/2014.
The maintenance of damaged tower line is being taken up by M/s Mega Power Assam being
assigned by NEEPCO authority as per annual maintenance agreement for the Grid Line

Dear Editor,
Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) appreciate the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Tuki for appraising the Fiscal challenges of the state to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
ACS also express its gratitude to the Prime Minister of India for his assurance to look into the grievances placed by Arunachal for best initiative and a domestic window for funding of infrastructure projects in lieu of Externally Aided from agencies like World Bank and Asian Development Bank. Arunachal Pradesh need support from Central Government in absence of resources of its own.
Hence ACS, appeal one and all to support the initiate taken by Tuki led Government for betterment of the Society and its people. And moreover every sections of Society must give collective input so that the present government could do good things for the State.
